F A S H I O N // B E T W E E N

There's always that fine line
between black and white
black is the absence of color
while white is all color

Black is mysterious
White is innocence
Black is evil
White is good

I could lie in between
where all is grey
but we're all extremists
and want to see in only black and white

I could dress in all black
and take away the color
but little pops
just make everything better

I need color
I love the colors in my hair
and the color throughout the world
so I'll continue to travel between spectrums
taking on both extremes

This has become my favorite coat. It's lightweight but still keeps my warm. And I love the length which goes right above the knee. You can never go wrong with black and white. As I've mentioned, I've been wanting a hat like this for some time now so it's been a great addition to my wardrobe.

Check out Dresslink and their great affordable styles.

F A S H I O N // D E S E R T Q U E E N

Don't follow her to the desert
She'll be your Queen
Reigning over nothingness
And everything in between

Can't trust a girl
When you can't see her eyes
Lift up her crown
You'll be wishing you were free in the skies

Unless you're really curious
You'll only find her tar black soul
Hallow with envy
Vying for control

Leave the desert while you can
Or else you'll be a two person clan

F A S H I O N // Issues I have with the standards of Modeling

Growing up was a real struggle for me, especially because modeling was something I was always interested in. The race thing never really bothered me, but the height issue was something that prevented me from achieving this ambition. From the research I've done, majority of women in the US are around 5'5", so why do we have this unrealistic person walking the runway? They are clearly in the tails of the normal distribution, thus the odds of them actually occurring in everyday life is a lot smaller than if someone who is 5'5". Why don't we have people who are shorter walking the runway? Oh because the dresses are made for tall people aka the people wearing them are the only ones who can buy it. I saw a casting call for "No Rest For Bridget" a boutique in Southern California, and the requirements of course were 5'9" and what not. Like what the heck man. I've bought clothes from them and they fit perfectly fine on someone who is 5'2" so why the hell am I not allowed to audition to model for them? It's so unrealistically shitty.

ALSO, being older, the race thing does bother me. Because realistically, what are the odds of someone who is asian being taller than 5'9". Unless you're mixed or have some really good genes, your hopes of modeling and being asian are really slim. Thanks a lot society, you've really ruined my self-esteem.

FORTUNATELY, there are other avenues of "modeling" which can be amateur-ish but at least it gives me something. Thank goodness for Instagram, Youtube, and Lookbook who don't give a rats ass of how tall you are because you just do your own thing.

Thanks for listening to my little rant.

F A S H I O N // Spinning

Sometimes all we need are the pretty colors. Round and Round they go. Only at night can we see their true beauty. I want to become one with them. I only want to live in the lights. Can't you see? We are meant to be.

Rainy Day Lookbook

I wish it would rain more in Southern California. If you didn't know already, SoCal is in a drought. It's pretty damn awful considering it's raining/snowing everywhere else. And guess what, it's just going to get warmer. Anyway, lets talk about look details.

Mine (Color Burst): So my look was inspired by the idea that you can still look good while it's raining. Just get those thigh high boots on and you'll be as warm as any other person. The key here is finding a warm coat also to keep you warm as wearing sweaters! You'd be surprised how warm you can be with just a sweater and a coat. Of course I have my pops of color with my hair and my umbrella. You can use anything as an accessory.

Victoria (Layered Grunge): What I love about Victoria's look is she can pick anything up and make it look rocking. She probably found these pieces in her parents closet and they are still relevant today. She didn't exactly grow up in the 90s but she could fool anyone with this look. Oversized coats are great for rainy days and plaid shirts provide that extra layer of comfort. She also wore a scarf, knit headband, and socks under her rainboots to provide extra warmth.

Julia (Bold Silence): I love how sophisticated she looks yet still has her adolescent innocence. I wish I was that stylish when I was her age. Her dress reminds me of a mime and her red sweater is very bold, hence the name bold silence for her. As I said for my look, you can still wear a dress in the rain and be totally warm. Red, white, and black always work for any occasion.

Amber (Comfy Casual): Now Amber's is the epitome of a rainy day: pullover sweater, jeans, and a beanie. And hey, even on days it isn't raining this is my go-to outfit. Don't forget the Ugg boots to keep your feet warm. It's a wonder what those boots can do when you're cold. I've found as long as my feet and neck are warm I'm set to go anywhere in the cold.

Hype me on Lookbook?

She must be in the mafia

If she has that ace of spades, don't trust her. Look at her with her brown-eyed grin hiding under those sunglasses. She must be hiding something with such large sunglasses and those leggy boots. She's the master of disguise hiding amongst the people. You'll never know what she's done until you ask her. Only the mafia, will do anything to get away.

I just discovered the game Mafia so you can tell this post has been inspired by this game. So in the game you are dealt a random card: The aces are mafia, king is the sheriff/spy, queen is the nurse/healer/doctor, and any number cards are the townspeople. It's a game of secrecy, deceit, and rounding up the townspeople to defeat the mafia. Convince the people who is who to win the game. Simple right?

I don't what to take away the light, I'd rather be the one to glow.

She's there throughout the day but she glows brighter in the night when the sun isn't there to outshine her. When she glows, it comes from within. You can see the illumination around her body and everywhere she steps she leaves a trail behind with flecks of color and bright glowing lights.

Returning home to the sea

I told you she was a mermaid.
She's human by day.
and mermaid by twilight.

her hair might change again.

New Year's Eve

This look was inspired by Burberry Prorsum Spring 2013. Usually girl go for glittery looks with sequins and shiney colours, so I decided I wanted a metallic look. So I started with the make up and worked the hair and outfit around that. The hair was inspired by Elsa from Frozen. I totally never thought of it before and was so excited to try it out. The key to getting a fuller braid is curling it prior. Yes it takes longer to do overall but trust me, it's totally worth it. The volume you get in your braid is fabulous, plus you you'll have pretty strands when the hairs fall out.

#PinkHeadProblems

So my gaga tickets came in, I dyed my hair again, and Pretty Little Liars marathon is recording at the moment, and all is well. Born This Way Ball here I come!

Well, I said I would update when I re-dyed my hair and it has finally come. This time it took 6+ hours to do my hair cause there was not any freakin conditioner in the dye which I left out this time because I wanted it to last and be more pink. That was dumb. More problems we encountered this time around: 1. Took longer because dye was so thick. 2. My hair was splotchy for some weird reason because my hair wouldn't take the dye. 3. My hair is more shades of pink than last time. Don't get me wrong, I love the way my hair turned out, just upset at the inconsistencies with this dye...or my head for that matter. Used the same exact products except for the conditioner, not sure if that changes the properties of the entire thing but it was excruciating long. Tips I learned for this time: wash hair in cold water and avoid the sun, which sucks cause the weather is cooling down and need to take two showers just to wash hair separately. So much fun.

I'm super stoked I finally get to see season 3 of PLL. Hopefully my stupid DVR works and actually records it. It's been so unreliable lately and frustrates me because I haven't been able to watch Glee on my tv but on Hulu since Grey's Anatomy is playing at the same time. Dumb right?

Halloween is coming up and I haven't posted any new looks on LB. I know, I've been slacking. I have so many pieces in mind but been too busy to it them together. Maybe this weekend if I have time. So, if I don't post by Halloween....Happy Halloween and be safe.

For the record, Rue was supposed to be black.

Yes, I am obsessed with the Hunger Games. I've already read through the series twice, seen the movie twice, and would not mind reading through it again. Here are the pieces of the Lookbook post.
Love the back of this dress. I would definitely recommend a skinny belt, but it didn't fit this look.
The chain really isn't this long. I had to add another to make it longer. The quality of the necklace is decent, it would have been nicer if it had a more metallic feeling to it.
Other heels/shoes would work also.
I tried to look like a bird as much as possible. I didn't realize the dress was tighter than I remembered. The photo still came out nicely.

In the book, on page 98-99 it describes Rue's features. So for those who disagreed about Rue's actor, read it for yourself.

This has been my favorite way to curl hair. Check it out below.

This little piggy was too broke to pay rent

I was originally inspired by Kim Possible to shoot this look. I was going to take the photos in a coffee shop and look incognito, but the place was more crowded than I expected. I ended up shooting them outside, but it worked out nicely cause of the brick walls. I particularly like this picture because of the leg line with the heel.

And it turns out, I can't balance in heels to save my life.

I think this color blue and nude accents make a nice combination. This trench has been sitting in my closet and I was so excited when I finally got to use it. Gold accessories would also work well with this outfit. I highly recommend shopping at Ross/thrift store/Good Will because you never know what you will find. I literally bought every Betsey Johnson lace bag there, and I hardly find any heels that are comfortable elsewhere.

Waiting for an Endless Summer...

Here's a close-up of the shirt, since it isn't visible in the photographs.
So artistically, I love all these photos, and I couldn't put them all on Lookbook, so I will share them with you here.

This look was inspired "The Endless Summer," so the focus of this piece is on the shirt. Yes, I know it's covered by my hair. It occurred to me after shooting the photos, it would have been better to move the hair. There are other versions of this tank at places like Urban Outfitters, I believe it's blue. I think yellow fits the theme of the movie better. I have not seen the actual "The Endless Summer," but I have seen "The Endless Summer II."

Still looking for the perfect wave...

What do you think of the movies?

So here is my first lookbook post.
Here is another photo of the look.
Other items not mentioned on Lookbook:
Lipstick: MAC Russian Red
Earrings: Forever 21
Bracelet: Abercrombie Kids

I like this outfit because it can be casual, but good for occasions. The shirt and boots keep it casual, while the skirt makes it more feminine and dressy. These boots are one of my favorites, not only because of the color, but the details on it as well. Of course, accessories also change the mood of the outfit, so style to liking.

Make up suggestion for these colors, I definitely would recommend red lipstick, particularly on the bold side. Of course pinks would work well too.
