This came out way cooler than I thought. I had lost a bet so my "embarrassing" thing I had to do was put temporary tattoos on my arm that I would have to wear during this shoot and I actually really like way it came out since I didn't have any festival make-up to accommodate this look. Kimonos are great for festivals because they are light weight but still provide some warmth and having a bustier allows you to get an even tan. But always make sure to wear sun screen! Boots are my thing at festivals because I don't like sand getting into my shoes to tennis shoes and sandals are a big fat no for me. You can never go wrong in black and white.

COACHELLA 2014

HIIIIIIIIIIII!

I've just returned from the valley of music and arts. If you follow me on Instagram, Friday was the perfect Coachella day ever in the history of Coachella (like I could say what is the best Coachella day, I've only been to two). But let me tell you why. First off, it drizzled!! Holy moly it cooled down the desert and I was a very happy camper. I love the rain and I like the cold. To have both in Coachella was the perfect combination. Secondly, there was probably half of the Coachella goers actually in attendance that day. WHY? It's Friday, people haven't got off work yet. Two: it's raining and no one wants to get wet. Three: the line up wasn't too thrilling. Four: They just weren't ready. Five: They came later in the day. Six: they were actually there but they had to go fix their tents? I dunno, this could be an exhaustive list of reasons why Friday was pretty empty. I stayed for about 3 artists and walked around the place.

Art pieces: Light up Mirrors. Giant Astronaut (replaced the Snail), Giant Robot, Giant light bender thing. Garden caterpillar.

Pluses about Coachella 2014:

• FINALLY HAD FLUSHING TOILETS! OMG that was the best thing to know ever. I actually used the restroom on site! WARNING! It starts to smell really bad by day 3. I'm guessing it's because the portapotties haven't been removed/replaced and man, BEWARE.
• MORE SHADE! They had more areas that shaded Coachella goers in the Terrace area and by the outdoor stage. Last year people were dying from the lack of shade and exposure to the sun
• FOOD! No I didn't try all of it. But the ones I did try were legit. Like the Cousins Maine Lobster truck and Salt and Straw from Portland, Oregon. I got the lobster roll and it wasn't the best lobster roll I've ever had but I liked that they had HUGE chunks of lobster in it. Wish the portion was bigger. NOT WORTH THE PRICE! $16?? I literally ate 5 bites of it and finished it. I was so sad. I got the Coffee and Bourbon ice cream from Salt and Straw and it was literally the best coffee ice cream I've ever consumed. Coffee is the only ice cream I enjoy eating. Go figure. That's an extensive story I might share with you another time but the point is, if you're ever in the Portland area, GO GO GO! This was also expensive $7 a scoop. HOLY F!#$! Geezus. If you go broke at Coachella, it doesn't surprise me. I must say it was worth it only because my travel plans do not involve Portland in the near future.

• WATER WAS MORE ACCESSIBLE! I finally got to fill my bottle because there wasn't a freakishly long line. Not sure if it was my particular location I picked or because they just got with it. Bought 2 water bottles aside from refill due to forgot it the first day and desperation (waited for Lana and need water stat!).
• I feel like there was less weed. My assumption that Easter landed on 4/20 so people were less obligated to get high. UNLESS it was because it was towards the end of the weekend. Who knows.
• YELLOW PATH WAS AWESOME. They cut out some BS paths of going around things so it was a shorter walk. So that added to my relief. 

Negatives:

• Tell me why Lana was on the Outdoor Stage? Why?! It was chaos! Pure chaos! I've never seen an audience so crammed and dedicated to see an artist aside from Gaga. Call me ignorant but GEEZ! People were hopping the VIP gate and shoving to get the front. Definitely should have been on the Coachella Stage.
• Why do people think it's okay to violate other people's personal space? Like dude keep your hands to yourself and no one will get hurt. Just because it's dark and you think people don't know you doesn't give you the right to touch other people. Fuck off.
• THE HEAT KILLS ME. Waiting 4 hours for Lana drained me. There was no breeze and it just wouldn't cool down. The universe should hear me and fix this shit. 
• Still waited super long to get in. Literally I feel like the organization of this aspect should get better. Not sure how but there has to be a better way to check people or make it go faster.

Didn't particularly care for the Merch this year so I opted for a Lana Del Rey shirt which is total shit anyway cause the flecks of gold on it are falling off. Not sure if intentional or just cheap material. ANYWAY. I'll be framing that instead of wearing it.

I tried to crab fries which was interesting. Would I buy it again? Probably not.

The line for Kogi was ridiculous. If you live in the LA area this was so not worth waiting for Kogi. Who am I to say cause the Maine Lobster truck is too but I never heard of it. POINT IS. If you're in LA, try the Kogi truck outside of Coachella. Cheaper prices and shorter lines (depending on what day you find it).

Did I care about fashion this year? I tried. But my comfort trumped style so I opted for lighter pieces. Even though I did choose to do my make up. For a shorter list of musts see below, for more detail keep reading. WIDE BRIM HAT IS SUCH A NECESSITY! Although my body was dying my head stayed cool and sweat free because I wore a hat. I applied sunscreen every 3 hours so I didn't burn. I wore combat boots to keep dust out of my shoes. I brought a light weight scarf to also keep dust and smoke out and it worked magnificently as a shading aid. Also wet that sucker and you have a personal AC. Downside. It dries ridiculously fast but it makes a world of a difference when it's wet and you have it wrapped around you or over your head. I can't stress bringing cash enough. I thought last year they had more card options but this year it was cash only for a lot of the sites. Not sure why it changed but it's just what I noticed. ATM machines suck. They take your money so bring it ahead of time!

My Coachella musts:

• Gallon Bottles (or biggest bottle you can carry)
• Scarf/Bandana
• CASH

NEFF Daily Beanie Review

Who said men's attire is strictly for men? Need a beanie? I advocate the NEFF Daily Beanies. They're SO soft, and quite frankly, that's my favorite part about them. Who wears beanies during spring weather? All the hip kids do, duh. Only joking, but really I've been wearing the gray one a lot lately because it matches with everything. These are great for summer nights because they're small and can easily be put in a bag or purse that doesn't take up too much room during the day, and can be worn by night. The stitching is pretty tight so it should fit on your head unless you wear it towards the back of your head, it won't stay on very well. Check itttt.

 There was a major mix up in transferring hotels but we got back here none the less. I absolutely love this last look cause it literally looks like a campaign ad thanks to my photographically talented friend. As you can tell, I literally didn't care how I looked and just threw my hair up and I didn't wear make up since the first day (honestly I forgot to put it on the second day, but we can pretend I didn't want to wear it).

This was also my simplest outfit because it had the least amount of pieces, but I still love it just the same.

This mother effing snail literally ran people over. I didn't think it moved the first day but I heard from others that they got stuck underneath it or it was right in the middle of sets being a major distraction. It's definitely a beautiful piece of work, but just a pain in the ass when it's sitting in the middle of the set. It was funny because I tried my best to avoid it as much a possible.

Overall, Coachella was a fun, new experience. I didn't feel the need to see every band and it was worth it to just see the select bands I wanted to see. I didn't suffer from fatigue or heat exhaustion because by the last day, people were just chilling in the shade taking naps because they were so exhausted. Like this one girl was passed out while her friends were sitting next to her and her poor piercing looked infected from the sweat. My combat boots was a smart decision to wear. They were comfortable and protected me from the dirt when walking. Downside, they're super dusty now and debating on whether I should clean the laces. WEAR SUNSCREEN AND BRING HATS! I brought jackets for the first two nights and didn't wear one for second night because we left before the sun went down. I know what you're thinking HOW COULD WE HAVE LEFT? I had class the next day people at 9am, cut me some slack. Jk. It didn't matter anyway because we came late the whole weekend anyway. Wide brim hats are your best option because they cover your face and provide your body with a little bit of shade. They weren't kidding when they said to stay hydrated. Because I probably stayed max 4-5 hours per day, I consumed 2 bottles while there and that's not even accounting for the water I consumed prior and after. BUDDY SYSTEM! Just cause. I can't comment on the bathrooms because I was fortunate enough to only have to go when I was in the hotel room and when I did have to go we were already heading back anyway. If you plan to drink, camp or buy shuttle pass. If you're an all day goer, camp or get shuttle pass. It was totally worth the extra 50 bucks just so we didn't have to drive back and forth and when we were tired we didn't have to deal with the stress of driving back.

That was my weekend. Hope you other coachella-ers were safe and had a good time as well.

I'm graduating this quarter so I'm trying to finish off strong and majorly studying.

Woot woot! Day 2! So we figured we weren't going til later so we chilled at the hotel most of the day and went swimming. It was totally worth it to sit back and chill because I totally enjoyed the rest of the night more.

Must say this was my favorite night because I was super prepared and the bands I wanted to see were playing later and they all sounded AMAZING! I was in love with Postal Service and Two Door Cinema Club! I grew up listening to Postal Service and they were like my high school band. I probably listened to them every night to sleep in high school. I was planning to see Two Door sooner but school always interfered so it was great to finally see them live.

This photo was shot right before Two Door played. This was also an art piece where they just attached a bunch of balloon to strings and festival goers took turns passing it off to one another to take pictures with and move them around the festival. It was really cool because it was always moving and it looked great with all the lighting they had around the festival. Not much to talk about here because it was such a good day.

Brittniss x Pincurls

This is how the weekend started. Wanting to look cute every day and I actually did my hair! woot! To eliminate using products on my hair and damaging it/lose color, I pin curled it as you can see in the pic above. It was super freakin hot. Weather said High: 84, it felt like hotter. Plus, because it was the first day lines were not moving and security was being very thorough. Unfortunately, I missed Metric. Sad face.

Because we had a shuttle pass, we were told to follow the yellow path. Of course they played the "follow the yellow brick road" portion of the Wizard of Oz, and let me tell you, that shit will make you mental. Cause it's probably a 10-15 second playback of the same few lines that you can hear for a good 4-5 runs of it while walking the path. INSANITY.

We finally made it at around 5PM, so if you're traveling by shuttle, give at least an hour cushion between departure and the show time. Cause we thought we had a bunch of time and that clearly didn't work out for us.

Here is my first look of the weekend and a random pic of this electricity plant they had in the middle of the festival. Okay the one major thing that sucks about the food truck is that you have to be 21+ and even if 21+ you had to get your ID checked because they are located in the beer gardens. So if you're looking to try truck food and you're underage, you're SOL.

It was totally worth not wearing jewelry or face make up because you sweat EVERYWHERE. 

I'd highly recommend bringing a jacket for night time. Backpacks are good for keeping your crap especially if you don't want to sit on the ground. You never know who might have puked there. Refilling your bottles is really unrealistic so don't plan on getting that shit filled. RECYCLE THE BOTTLES! Here I am preaching to do this but I didn't do it. It says you could collect 10 bottles in exchange for a new cold water and possibly other merch but I never tried to do that but I ended up seeing people with bags of bottles and cans so I'm pretty sure they made the exchange.

WARNING: Weed is everywhere. No joke. EVERYWHERE. You can't escape it. Maybe it was the date or something but seriously, I knew it would be around but not as much as I thought. Like these people had no decretion when having it out there and rolling it like it's no big deal. PLUS they even did it around children, which is like seriously dude? Like your decision is your decision but don't smoke around the kids. WEAR A BANDANA TO AVOID THIS AND DUST. I ended up leaving early because I had such a bad headache.
