Electric Holiday Video Review

If you haven't seen what Barney's and Disney put together, check out the link below!

Disney and Barney's New York Presents "Electric Holiday"

It's better than I imagined! Even Gaga was in it! They did a great job with re-creating the characters. I am not sure if that was due to the petitioning of the images, but I absolutely loved the video. Minnie is truly adorable and it doesn't change the way I view Minnie Mouse at all. She's a fashion icon of her own with the prominent large bow and white bloomers under her dress. Truthfully, I'm surprised there hasn't been any attack on the way Princess Tiana and Snow White were perceived because their characters were already pretty thin already. They lengthened their legs and thinned their faces, at least noticeably for Snow White. I am not sure if that is due to current animation and perception of her because she was developed back in the 1930s. Anyway on the brighter side, Daisy's outfit was my favorite on the runway. They did such an amazing job of animating real people, I was able to distinguish each person as they were introduce in the video. It was quite fun picking them out. The direction was perfect. Focusing on Minnie Mouse (versus Mickey) was crucial, and it is almost empowering that it was Minnie's time to shine. However, I did feel it was kind of perpetuating the Disney idea of needing a man to make your life happy, since Mickey was the one who actually purchased the dress for her. Sorry to be a kill joy! I know it's supposed to be cute that her boyfriend/husband thought of her and bought something for her but at the same time I see that view as well. With that being said, I can't wait to see the collection. Hope you enjoyed the video as much as I did.

Barney's New York Skinny Minnie Mouse

Everyone knows the classic Minnie Mouse as being a short, full character that is fun loving and child appropriate. Growing up with her, we have never seen any variation of her in at least the last 20 years except for the computer generated version she was latest updated to but still looks very similar to the cartoon, 2D version. Barney's has proposed/already campaigned to have her on the runway with a taller, lanky version of her and there have been people to have protested this. Personally, I love the idea of having Minnie and other characters dramaticized to these images. It's like someone's artistic perception of her and doesn't damage her likeness in anyway. Yes, I know you must be thinking that I don't promote anorexia and people going to extreme measures to create their body image, but I think that these are completely separate for the fact Minnie is a cartoon character and young children identify with a cartoon characters but not to the same extent as people who actually exist in their lives. I am not discouraging parents to not allow their children to believe cartoon characters are real, but to the same extent, they aren't as tangible. Barney's isn't targeting a younger audience, so it seems that these protestors don't really have an argument. This campaign is for an older target market and people who have seen Minnie Mouse before and know she doesn't really look like this. Furthermore, we have allowed the creators of "Once Upon a Time" to change the ideas and concepts of our traditional fairy tales, so allowing Barney's of New York to have a different perception of Minnie. I loved what they did with Gaga's Workshop and was looking forward to this year's campaign.

Fame and Minnie Mouse

I'm excited to announce I have purchased Lady Gaga's fragrance Fame. It's literally perfection in a bottle. (Okay I am a little biased being a proud little monster, but it smells amazing!) I haven't gotten a chance to open the bottle yet, and I'm taking advantage of the little testers Macys gave with the purchase. I honestly can't even describe the smell, but it's so appealing that it's addicting.

Personally, bitch is expensive. Sorry mother monster, but every product you sell is exclusive and top notch and it's making me broke. I have all these Gaga items that I don't know what to do with but collect! I guess that's what I get for being a fan. What do you think of the fragrance?

I also purchased a few of the Minnie Mouse Collection by O.P.I. and let me say the Color of Minnie red is perfect! It embodies the colour of Minnie Mouse, her personality and is great for every occassion. I typically like a darker red for my nails, but after trying this colour on I had a change of heart. I also own If You Moust You Moust and it's a bubble gum pink that would work with Viva Glam Nicki lipstick. I have this obsession of matching my lipsticks with my nail polish, so let me know which lipstick would look best with The Color of Minnie.

Lastly, be sure to check out Office Depot and the Kindness stickies. I haven't actually discussed why this means so much to me but I fully support everything the Born This Way Foundation stands for. It's definitely not solely for homosexuals and transgenders, as some people believe, but significantly to promote anti-bullying and kindness to all beings regardless of their sexual orientation, race, gender, or national origin. I think the stickies and sharpies are a great way to remind people to be brave to prevent bullying and share kindness to those who need it most.
