H A I R // Manic Panic Purple Haze Review

So I realize this review is long over due since I have already changed my hair color and failed to update what purple haze looks like, I thought I would let you know my thoughts on this particular dye in words and pictures.

Love this color. However, it did not come out as I had expected. The pictures on Manic Panic's Website and Sally's Beauty Supply looked more red. This was a solid purple. Then again, I had dyed over my pink hair which may have altered the coloring on it, but I figured Purple Haze was dark enough that it was over power my pink hair.

Just like all the Manic Panic dyes, the consistency is fantastic. It's easy to apply and it makes your hair feeling soft after. Unlike most Manic Panic dyes, this one started to fade pretty fast. Fortunately, it was fading into this cool ombre pink/purple colors which totally worked but then it got really weird when the under colors of my blues (from like 3 dye sessions ago) was showing through. This could have been for a few reasons.
1. I've been taking obnoxiously hot showers.
2. Lately, I've been washing my hair more often.

Or it could have just been the dye. I was honestly expecting Purple Haze to fade into a more greenish color, like the way Ion Color Brilliance faded into this grayish/greenish/blueish color. And I expected it to hold in general. When I used Purple in Ion Color Brilliance, the color was still even throughout and it maintained whatever color it became whereas when Purple Haze faded out, it returned back to its bleached state (like a coppery blond). So it ended up looking like this.

9 weeks later

A mixture of lavender towards the end, some pinks, and the copper blond in the middle. Doesn't make any sense to me. It still looks cool, but as I said, I wish the purple lasted a little longer. Let me know how your Purple Haze turned out!

H A I R // Manic Panic | Vampire Red Review

Being a red head was one of the last things I ever thought of becoming: 1) it seemed like a typical color people would dye their hair, and 2) it just never crossed my mind. I had originally planned to dye my hair Fuchsia Shock, which appeared to be a combination of red and purple dye (which I loved from when we did the galaxy hair), but I guess Sally's doesn't carry that one in store, so my mom came back with Vampire Red. I can't tell you how much I like how Manic Panic applies to the hair. I didn't even use a brush and just used my bare hand and applied it like it was conditioner and I was pretty successful at getting every spot on my head.

It was REALLY red when I first dyed it and now faded to somewhat a pastel-like red and mixed with purple streaks because the color from the previous dye is coming through.

Five weeks later

This dye has been a pain though. Five weeks later it is STILL bleeding when I wash my hair. I haven't gone swimming with it so I would imagine it would continue to bleed or maybe finally stop bleeding?  Who knows. I definitely don't think this will fade light enough for for me to use a pink or green color, but probably have to transition into a purple but we'll see!

H A I R // Manic Panic Virgin Snow Toner Review

At first I didn't think this product helped lighten my hair but it actually did after review the footage I took from dying my hair. It was very brassy/orange and after applying it for a half hour helped lighten my hair and turned it more yellow. I also like this product because it helps make my hair softer but this is all Manic Panic products so thumbs up for that. I only bleached my hair once during this process, so just making it a little lighter helped when adding the other colors. For darker colored dyes, I would not bleach your hair to get it as light as possible because you are only damaging it and the darker colors should get rid of any blonde.

H A I R // Manic Panic | Atomic Turquoise Review

So I used Atomic Turquoise thinking it would be similar to the Ion Color Brilliance in Mint, but man was I wrong. It's definitely blue after mixing it with the pastelizer. I think I would only need an entire pot of pastelizer and a drop of the atomic turquoise to get it to the color I want, or even mix it with like a dash of green. I have no idea but that's something I'll have to play with in the upcoming dyes.
Atomic Turquoise is very bright and loud, so if you're dying your hair for the first time and not ready for something to loud, this is not your color. It'd definitely comparable to the Ion Color Brilliance Aqua in terms of color but NOT consistency. If you like this kind of color, GO MANIC PANIC! You will save money and time!
